Carolin Baur studied social sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, with the main focus on general sociology and social scientific methods, industrial psychology as well as law. She graduated from the University of Hull (UK) in 2008 with a first class BA in management within the scope of an international university partnership.
From June 2005 to August 2006 Carolin Baur worked as a teaching assistant under Prof. Dr. Henrik Kreutz at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Her work included creating and conducting an accompanying tutorial for the course - Introduction to Basic Sociology I. She also held weekly tutorials in preparation for the experimental sociological role playing for the course - Introduction to Basic Sociology II. Through her work in several internships and student jobs she gained further practical experiences in the organisations of the public as well as private sector.
